A little change

When my husband and I got married we received one gift that stands out to me as a favorite.  It was a cookbook.  I love cook books!  I check them out at the library, buy them, read them online.  All the while dreaming of a life where I could cook GOOD.  But let's face it, I am no Gordon Ramsey.  I may act like him sometimes in the kitchen but I certainly do NOT cook like him.  That is why my favorite cookbooks are the ones full of normal food.  Full of food that anyone can cook at anytime.  Full of ingredients that I actually have in my cabinets.  The cookbook that we received when we got married was given to us by my mother-in-law.  It is a cookbook that is handwritten full of family favorite recipes. What better way to start off a marriage than to have all of your new husbands family favorite recipes.  This cook book is still (11 years later) my favorite.

One day a little while back, one of the girls said, "Mom, when I go away to collage will you make me one of those cookbooks full of OUR family favorites."  Choking back the tears, I smiled and said,"of course".  (Sniff Sniff it is closer than I want to admit)

So I wanted to add a new element to my blog.....Family Favorite Recipes.  I wanted to start posting the different recipes that we use and love so that I can eventually pass them on. Hopefully it will be fun and a  great new way to share a little piece of me.

Mother's Day

I couldn't think of a better place to share this Mother's Day picture movie than here.  We made this for the 3 Mother's that we have in our lives.  These 3 women (more affectionately known as Nana, Milla, and ZuZu) are not only amazing Grandmothers/Mothers but amazing women as well. It is am honor to have them in our lives and it is an honor to call them all Mom.

Pancakes

I made 3 batches of pancakes tonight. None of which got to eat.

1st-went for my very hungry children who acted as if they hadn't eaten in 3 days. And they were beautiful and perfect. (The pancakes not my children, though they are beautiful and perfect too :-)

2nd- burned b/c I was blog reading. Jacqulyn's to be specifc. Her photography and life are captivating and she s an amazing friend.

The 3rd batch wasn't much of a batch, it was only a single pancake. Because I had used all of the batter on the other batches of pancakes :-( So with only enough batter for 1 single pancake I tried again.  It  looked perfect, smelled perfect .... but when I cut into my sad single little perfect pancake.....it wasn't done inside......so I quit.

 

I think a bowl of cereal will do for my dinner tonight.  And it will be the best tasting most perfect ever :-)

What Spring looks like for us

Spring looks like many different things, but for us it spells FREEDOM!  Finally we can open the windows and play out side.  Finally we can stop wearing socks and go to flip flops.  Finally we can head to the park. And finally the dead plants are coming back to life.

Thinking in Tweets

Ok so I must admit it.....

I think in tweet mode.

I listen in tweet mode.

I read in tweet mode

I don't necessarily listen/read/think so that I can tweet something.  I just listen and read in a short, 140 characters or less, kind of way.  When I listen to speakers (or Preachers :-)  I listen for that ONE line that is impacting.  When I read I read with intense detail looking for that ONE line or phrase. When I think....well ok I think bigger, but I try to think of the one BIG point that is impacting. It might be impacting in a funny way or in a profoundly deep, change my life kind of way. 

So this begs a question. "Am I that way because of twitter? Or does Twitter simply speak the way I think?"

What ever the answer may be, I thought I would share some of my favorites.  Some are from twitter and some are just ones that I have collected.
