Lifepoint Gives Back- Again!!!

A while back I blogged about Lifepoint Gives back. (read here) Well today, Lifepoint did it again. All across Fredericksburg 350+ Lifepointers went out and "gave back" to our community. Doing things like: trash pick up, water hand outs, window washing, etc. A sea of green shirts covered our community and gave. It was an incredible experience to watch so many people give of their time and serve. I will link or post more as pictures come in and we have more material to share. Thanks to all of you who participated. I was great to come along side you and serve our community.

A new first

It has been a while. My blogging has been put on hold for a while because my life has been CRAZY busy. From home school testing, swim lessons, amusement park, to planning a trip to Turkey. Though it has been crazy I have determined that I miss writing/blogging so I will do better.
Tonight was a new first for us. One that makes me feel like a REAL grownup. :-)
Our big girls has the first YOUTH event. Now this may not seem like much to alot of you but it is HUGE for me. I guess you are really an adult when you have kids in youth ministry. I have the foundest memories of my "youth group" years. The best trips, the greatest friendships, and the opportunity to live out my faith. Somewhere in my "youth group" years and my "screwed up" years, God placed a desire in my heart for living a life in ministry.
Tonight is the first step for B and S in a long line of adventures. I think I would have been a little anxious to let them go tonight. I would have wanted to go, check out who was there, make sure there was enough adults, etc. Maybe it is the homeschool life, maybe it is fear of my teenage years, maybe I am a realist. But just opening my arms and letting go is not so easy for me.
So I get to breathe a sigh of relief tonight, because hubby put on his "youth guy" hat.
It is pretty cool to me that the girls get to go and "be" with dad not to far away. And for what it is worth.....it maked me feel a whole lot better.
(I am sure that somewhere deep inside, it makes them feel better too.)
